Feeder Cattle Narrative Report for 08/03/2016

Receipts: 7,221      Last Week: 7,500      Year Ago: 2,896

   Compared to last week: Feeder steers sold 1.00-5.00 higher. Feeder heifers 2.00-4.00 higher. Steer and heifer calves not well tested, but a higher undertone was noted. Quality average to attractive. This week continues to be in the mid to low 90's, but hotter weather is expected to return at the beginning of August. Demand moderate to good despite the slight decline in cattle futures. Supply included 88 percent over 600 lbs and 39 percent heifers.

   Feeder Steers Medium and Large 1 Calves: few 295 lbs 195.00; 325-375 lbs 179.00-181.00; 450-500 lbs 162.00-175.00; 450-475 lbs 155.50-165.50, thin fleshed 168.00; 625-650 lbs 143.00-147.00; Yearlings: 600-700 lbs 150.00-161.00, thin fleshed 162.00; 700-800 lbs 145.25-155.50; 800-900 lbs 139.00-147.25; 900-1000 lbs 133.00-143.50, fleshy 135.00; 1000-1075 lbs 129.50-133.50; pkg 1150 lbs 122.50.
   Medium and Large 1-2 Calves: few 450 lbs 160.00; 550-575 lbs 146.00-153.00; 700-750 lbs 135.00-138.00; Yearlings: few 650 lbs 150.00; 750-800 lbs 140.00-150.00; 825-900 lbs 139.00-142.00; 950-975 lbs 130.00-137.00.
   Medium and Large 2: 850-875 lbs 137.25-141.75.
   Large 1: pkg 625 lbs 143.00; few 775 lbs 131.00.
   Large 3: pkg 675 lbs 115.00.

   Feeder Bulls Medium and Large 1 Calves: few 375 lbs 171.00; few 475 lbs 153.00; pkg 625 lbs 136.00; few 700 lbs 133.00.
   Medium and Large 1-2 Calves: pkg 675 lbs 128.00; Yearlings: pkg 725 lbs 129.00.
