Farm Families Urge a Yes Vote on State Question 792
Fri, 28 Oct 2016 22:40:19 CDT
Former Oklahoma Farm Bureau Family of the Year Dennis and Elaine Flaming say voting Yes on 792 will help get agricultural products to market and lead to job growth.
The Flamings began raising livestock, wheat and alfalfa in 1966. In 2000, they established their vineyard by planting 4.5 acres of nine varieties of vinifera grapes.
"By voting Yes on 792, citizens can encourage grape growing and the diversification of agricultural products in Oklahoma," said Dennis Flaming. "At one time, more than 5,000 acres were in grape production, and we can get there again. But first, we have to improve access to customers. State Question 792 is a great step to helping an industry ready to grow jobs in Oklahoma."
SQ 792 will assist others in agriculture, as well. For example, many craft brewers source the grain they ferment from local farmers. Forty Six Grain Company is becoming a leader in providing products for local craft brewers.
Respected Oklahoma farmers and ranchers like Dennis and Elaine Flaming of Fairview, Tim Hladik of Drummond and Jack Sherry of Holdenville have all lent their names to a radio advertisement in support of State Question 792.
Individuals and organizations are encouraged to join the campaign at Yeson792.com.
