National FFA Convention Update- Friday October 21, 2016

Friday proved to be a busy and productive day for FFA members from Oklahoma who are attending the 2016 National FFA Convention in Indianapolis. Here's a rundown of how folks who are competing in various events have excelled to date:


Tyler Schnaithman, Garber FFA- 2016 Star Farmer of America

Garrett Yerigan, Pryor FFA- 2016 Finalist in Star Agribusiness Competition

Vanessa Wiebe, Hooker FFA- National Officer Candidate Finalist (announcement of new officer team comes Saturday afternoon)

Adrienne Blakey, Stillwater FFA- Final Four Participant in National Extemperaneous Speech Contest (Final Results out in Friday Evening Session)

Emily Kennedy, Edmond FFA- Final Four Participant in National Creed Contest (Final Results in Friday evening Session)

Oklahoma earned three national titles in the Proficiency Awards:

Bethany Niles, Fairview FFA- Ag Communications- Entrepreneurship/Placement

McKenzie Torrance, Cheyenne FFA- Goat Production

Ethan Sacket, Fairview FFA, Landscape Management

Ag Communications Team placed ninth, with high individual in the contest- Will Church of Fairview

Tuttle FFA won National Championship in Livestock Judging
