Former Attorney General Drew Edmondson Tells Farmers You Will Have Your Right to Farm Protected- Just Not in the Constitution
Tue, 08 Nov 2016 23:36:32 CST
If you were an opponent of State Question 777, the Right to Farm Constitutional Amendment, Election night proved to be a happy time. One of the leaders of the Vote No movement was former Attorney General Drew Edmondson, who told Radio Oklahoma Ag Network Farm Director Ron Hays that "we were not only pleased with the amount of the no vote, but also that it was across the state- it was both urban and rural."
Edmondson also says that he wishes no ill will on farmers and ranchers, but he saw no reason for language in the state constitution that would dictate a right for farmers and ranchers to operate. Edmondson spoke directly to farmers and ranchers saying "Take a deep breath, you are going to be fine, you have been fine since statehood- the Oklahoma legislature is very protective of your interests as they should be, and so are the people and they will continue to be but you don't need to be in our bill of rights."
