Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association to Hold New Policy Development Meeting the Winter

Thu, 01 Dec 2016 09:14:44 CST

Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association to Hold New Policy Development Meeting the Winter The Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association will hold a policy development meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. at the Embassy Suites located on North Phillips Ave. in Oklahoma City, Okla.

"Traditionally, OCA policy is developed at the annual summer Convention. This new winter meeting will give OCA members an additional opportunity to consider and create policy that drives our organization," said OCA President Charlie Swanson.

According to Swanson, with two policy development opportunities, OCA will be more flexible and responsive to address important beef cattle issues and membership needs. Further, the timing of the Winter Policy Meeting in late January allows for OCA members to discuss bills of the upcoming Legislative Session which begins in February as well as proposed policies for the National Cattlemen's Beef Association (NCBA) Annual Convention the following week.

The schedule for the day will include adequate time for committee meetings so that OCA members can propose, debate and adopt policy. The day will conclude with the Winter Quarterly Board of Director's meeting.

"Vital to the success of policy development meetings is engagement of our members," Swanson said. "All members are encouraged to attend and participate by exercising their membership voting power, participating in discussions and bringing policy ideas."

OCA has a core fundamental of membership involvement.

"This organization exists because of and for our members. The Winter Policy Meeting is a new and great opportunity for OCA members to engage and chart the course for a successful Oklahoma beef cattle industry," Swanson said.

Early registration is $35 per person, lunch is included. Early register cutoff is Jan. 13. Register at www.okcattlemen.org
