Allendale Sees Bigger Marketing Number Than Placement Number in December Cattle on Feed Report Coming Friday This Friday, December 23 at 11:00 AM Central, USDA will release their monthly Cattle on Feed and Cold Storage reports. At the same time, they will release their quarterly Hogs and Pigs report. Allendale has relased their estimates for the three reports:

November Placements are expected to be 5.2% larger than last year at 1.685 million head. This would be the second smallest November placement since the data-series start in 1996. November placements supply the April through August slaughter period.

Allendale anticipates a Marketing total 11.3% larger than November 2015 at 1.705 million. This was the largest November marketing in four years. There was no calendar adjustment this month.
Total Cattle on Feed as of December 1 is 1.4% smaller than last year at 10.645 million. That is a decrease from the November 1 total that was +1.3% under one year ago.

Allendale projects a 562 million lb. total pork stock level for the end of November. The five-year average is 531 million lbs. Our estimate represents a decrease of 36 million lb. from the previous month. The five-year average month to month change for November is a 28 million lb. decrease. Beef stocks, at 557 million lbs., are above the five-year average of 450. This represents an increase of 25 million lb. from the previous month. The five-year average shows a 14 million lb. increase for this month.

For the Quarterly Hogs and Pigs Report, Allendale predicts that the All Hog and Pigs number as of December first will be up by .7% compared to December 1, 2015. The number of females is expected to be one tenth of one percent larger than a year ago, while the number of pigs kept for marketing is called seven tenths of one percent above that of December first, 2015.
