The Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association (OCA) donated $30,000.00 to the Children's Hospital Foundation. The official check presentation took place on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 12:30 p.m. at OU Children's Hospital in Oklahoma City, Okla.
"In 1985, the OCA created the Range Round-Up, a ranch rodeo, to provide family entertainment, promote beef and raise money for charity. 2016 marks the 20th year in a row that the selected charity has been the Children's Hospital Foundation," said Tim Drummond, Chairman of the OCA Range Round-Up Committee. "In that time, OCA has donated more than $456,000.00 and formed a strong connection to the charity and its work. This year's donation is the largest single donation we have ever given."
Several cowboys attended the check presentation and enjoyed lunch and a hospital tour.
"The Children's Hospital Foundation is a very special organization. Personally, I've formed a bond with some of the children we've had contact with several times and truly enjoy visiting the hospital and interacting with the children and their families during the activities we provide for them during the Range Round-Up," Drummond said.
The OCA Range Round Up features 12 historic Oklahoma ranch teams in head to head competition for bruises and bragging rights. The OCA Range Round-Up is a ranch rodeo, comprised of six events depicting day-to-day ranching jobs.
The Range Round-Up event is held annually at the Lazy E Arena. The Lazy E Arena is contributing to the mission of the Range Round-Up too by making their own donation of $5,000.00 to the Children's Hospital Foundation.
