Mon, 23 Jan 2017 11:34:04 CST
The American Farmers & Ranchers Women's Cooperative is encouraging young rural women leaders to attend the Oklahoma Grow, an event for young women, Jan. 27, at the Oklahoma State University Student Union.
"We are sponsoring a limited number of attendees for this event as we believe young women, especially from rural areas, can benefit from the valuable topics scheduled for discussion," Holly Carroll, AFR membership services and field operations coordinator. The one-day conference is hosted by FarmHer, which states on its website, the event will help young women to be informed, inspired and encouraged to pursue their passion for agriculture through their future careers as professionals and producers. FarmHer was founded by Iowa photographer Marji Guyler-Alaniz, and focuses on documenting women in agriculture through photography.
Other speakers include Amberly Snyder, a barrel racer and inspirational speaker. After recovering from a 2010 car accident that left her paralyzed, Snyder has continued to follow her passion of riding and working with horses. Highlights include the FarmHer Hall of Fame induction ceremony, where one outstanding person who has been a role model for younger women in agriculture will be recognized. The event begins with registration and breakfast at 7:30.
