US Cattlemen's Association Seeks to Advance and Maintain Current Access to Global Beef Markets
Wed, 25 Jan 2017 12:13:49 CST
United States Cattlemen's Association President Kenny Graner commented on President Trump's executive order to withdraw the United States from the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement:
"USCA remains committed to expanding and improving upon market access for all U.S. beef products. However, such trade agreements must only be entered into when strong safeguards are in place that protect U.S. producers from import surges. Such safeguards include: the classification of cattle and beef as perishable and cyclical items, rules of origin, quantity and price safeguards, and upward harmonization of import and health and safety standards. The Administration should look to these objectives in the negotiating of any free trade agreement."
"USCA looks forward to working with the Administration on advancing U.S. beef exports across the globe while maintaining a safe and sustainable domestic supply."
