Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 1/30/2017

Receipts: 7,471    Week ago:    7,257    Year ago: 6,669

Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves under 450 lbs steady to 5.00 lower, over 450 lbs 6.00 to 10.00 lower, yearling steers 4.00 to 7.00 lower, yearling heifers 2.00 to 6.00 lower. Demand moderate, supply heavy. Live Cattle and Feeder Cattle futures closed sharply lower. The USDA Cattle On Feed report showed 100 percent On Feed, 107 percent Marketed, 118 percent Placements. Placements were significantly higher than most analyst thought. Feeder supply included 56 percent Steers, 0 percent Holstein Steers, 39 percent Heifers, and 5 percent Bulls. Feeder Supply over 600 lbs was 55 percent.
