National Council of Farmer Cooperatives President Applauds EPA's Denial of a Ban on ChlorpyrifosThu, 30 Mar 2017 14:33:32 CDT
President of the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives Chuck Conner, today, released the following statement regarding Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt's decision to deny a petition submitted proposing a ban on Chlorpyrifos for agricultural use.
“On behalf of America’s farmer-owned co-ops, I applaud the action today by EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt to deny a petition that would have banned use of chlorpyrifos, a crop protection product used by farmers and growers across the country.
“This action is victory for the use of science in regulating product use and for a responsive and predictable regulatory process. Hopefully the action today and the thorough review process that was used to arrive at it, can serve as a roadmap as the EPA moves forward in assessing other crop protectants in the review and registration process."
