Oklahoma Farm Bureau Finds Scott Pruitt Draining the Swamp at EPA- Tom Buchanan Recaps DC Travels with Ron Hays
Thu, 30 Mar 2017 15:08:48 CDT
Members of the Oklahoma Farm Bureau have hurried from one appointment to the next- covering a lot of ground in Washington, DC this week during the 2017 Oklahoma Farm Bureau Congressional Action Tour. Radio Oklahoma Farm Director Ron Hays talked with President Tom Buchanan as the group's time in Washington was winding down on Thursday afternoon.
Buchanan told Hays that the highlight of the trip was a visit to the Environmental Protection Agency to see Oklahoma's former Attorney General in his job as the Administrator of the EPA. Scott Pruitt greeted his old friends warmly- and said, tongue in cheek, that it was great to see them at the EPA and smiling at the same time. Buchanan admitted that while he had been coming to Washington for several years as a Farm Bureau representative- he had never been to the EPA offices- and that they had to pull out the map to find EPA's location for this first ever trip to the agency.
Administrator Pruitt was cheered by Farm Bureau as he explained the process of rolling back WOTUS- and he pledged that he would work hard to be a partner with states and with stakeholders in developing environmental policies to protect our air and water.
Buchanan also recounted the Farm Bureau visits with members of the Oklahoma Congressional delegation and discussed the three or four policy positions that Farm Bureau is most interested in- starting with the development of a 2018 Farm Bill.
