Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 4/3/2017

Receipts: 4,044    Week ago:    4,799    Year ago: 7,296

***CLOSE*** Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves steady, except fleshy, un-weaned calves steady to 5.00 lower, yearlings steady to 3.00 higher. Demand moderate to good, supply light. The USDA Grain report estimated Corn acreage will be four million acres less than last year, and Soybean acreage up six million acres over last year. Corn stocks were up ten percent and Soybean stocks up thirteen percent over last year. Feeder supply included 53 percent Steers, 1 percent Holstein Steers, 42 percent Heifers, and 5 percent Bulls. Feeder Supply over 600 lbs was 37 percent.
