Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 4/18-19/2017


Receipts: 12,843    Week ago:    15,243    Year ago: 3,834

    

This report includes both the Tuesday Calf sale and the Wednesday Yearling sales. Compared to last week:
Feeder steers sold 2.00-5.00 higher, feeder heifers traded mostly 1.00-3.00 higher. Higher cash fat cattle trade in Texas and Kansas sparked an increase in feeder cattle demand. Steer and heifer calves under 500 lbs weak to 2.00 lower on limited offering; over 500 lbs 2.00-4.00 higher. Demand remains moderate to good for all classes. Quality plain to attractive. Recent rainfalls and warmer temperatures are helping summer grazing pastures green up.   Feeder supply included 57 percent Steers, 42 percent Heifers, and 0 percent Bulls. Feeder Supply over 600 lbs was 85 percent.
