Sonny Perdue Wins Praise for Confirmation by Biotechnology Innovation Organization The Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) congratulates Sonny Perdue on his confirmation to be U.S. Agriculture Secretary. In bipartisan fashion, the Senate overwhelmingly approved Perdue by a vote of 87 to 11.


“On behalf of the biotechnology industry, we applaud today’s vote by the Senate to confirm Sonny Perdue to be Ag Secretary and to lead the USDA moving forward,” said BIO President and CEO Jim Greenwood.


“We look forward to working with Secretary Perdue and other leaders at the USDA on the many priority issues related to biotechnology and other biology-based tools that help us to more sustainably feed, fuel and heal the world.”
