Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 5/1/2017

Receipts: 2,567    Week ago:    4,545    Year ago: 3,551

Compared to last week, steers and heifers 3.00 to 8.00 higher, except yearling heifers over 700 lbs 2.00 to 4.00 higher. Demand good, supply light. A late start for the auction due to the light offering. Record rainfall has made April one of the wettest on record. Transporting cattle to the livestock market is difficult in many area's due to muddy conditions and high water. A flood warning remains for most of the trade area as historic flooding has closed many farm to market roads as well as portions of major highways. Feeder supply included 61 percent Steers, 37 percent Heifers, and 2 percent Bulls. Feeder Supply over 600 lbs was 48 percent.
