Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 5/8/2017

Compared to last week: Feeder steers over 700 lbs steady to 4.00 higher; under 700 lbs steady. Feeder heifers 600-700 lbs steady to 4.00 higher, over 700 lbs steady to 2.00 lower. Steer and heifer calves not well tested but a higher undertone was noted. Warmer temperatures and drier weather over the weekend allowed producers to transport cattle. Quality average to attractive. Demand remains good as cattle futures turned sharply higher on Monday. Demand also surprisingly good despite the fact that cattle trucks are becoming limited. The Wheat Run is definitely in full swing. Feeder supply included 61 percent Steers, 0 percent Holstein Steers, 38 percent Heifers, and 1 percent Bulls. Feeder Supply over 600 lbs was 89 percent.
