Hail in the Mix for a Stormy Night Across the Oklahoma Wheat Belt- Just Ahead of Harvest

Tue, 16 May 2017 05:54:23 CDT

Hail in the Mix for a Stormy Night Across the Oklahoma Wheat Belt- Just Ahead of Harvest Storms are predicted for Oklahoma later today- and it will be a scary time for wheat and canola producers across western and central counties because of the potential for large hail. Jed Castles with News9 in Oklahoma City offers this map that you see above- and it could mean a further cut in the size of the 2017 wheat harvest which is very close to starting in southwest Oklahoma.

Stormy conditions will continue much of the week- and large amounts of rainfall may be in the mix in parts of Oklahoma- including where drought has persisted in recent weeks.

The two graphics below show the precipitation forecast and the nine day forecast for central and western Oklahoma.
