Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 5/22/2017

                           Receipts          Week Ago             Year Ago

Total Receipts:              6023               6,949              5,808

Feeder Cattle:              6,023(100%)         6,949(100%)        5,808(100%)

Compared to last week, steers and heifers of all weights sold unevenly steady, with price ranges of most weights of cattle trading within a dollar or two of either side of last weeks spreads. Solid gains at the CME lent some support as futures gained back a little of the significant losses experienced the past couple of weeks. Very strong yearling market here at JRS on Monday as buyers pursued several loads of heavy weight steers knowing that they'll soon be in short supply. Supply moderate, demand moderate to good. Feeder cattle supply included 58 percent Steers, 0 percent Dairy Steers, 37 percent Heifers, and 4 percent Bulls. Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 38 percent.
