Superior Brings Producers Enrolled in Value Added Program $12 to $16 Premiums at Corn Belt Classic Superior Livestock Auction’s Corn Belt Classic

Superior Livestock Auction kicked off their summer sales tour in Council Bluffs, Iowa with their Corn Belt Classic broadcast live from the Ameristar Hotel. Cattle producers offered 72,500 head of calves, yearlings and breeding stock from 21 states for this auction. The bulk of trade occurred in the North Central region with cattle selling on contracts to deliver immediately through the end of February 2018. Superior Livestock went live at 7:30am CT with Superior Sunrise and the auction starting at 9am CT. The Corn Belt Classic was broadcast live on DISH channel 232 and streamed on Superior Livestock Auction’s Click To Bid website. There was much anticipation for this auction as all industry eyes were watching to see where the bar for fall delivery calves would be set. Once again Superior’s reputation, buyer base and value added programs did not disappoint; as many are seeing lower cattle futures those producers with Superior that are part of a value added program are seeing a $12 to $16 premium compared to those who are not.

Yearling steers were $3 to $7 lower and yearling heifers were $4 to $7 lower from Superior’s June 1st Video Auction. Weaned steer calves (regions 3/4/5/6) were $3 to $6 lower and weaned heifer calves (region 3/4/5/6) were steady to $4 lower. On comparable recent auction sales feeder steers sold steady to $8 higher and feeder heifers sold $3 to $5 higher according to USDA’s market reports. Region 1 & 2 calves were an impressive $10-$15 higher than on the Corn Belt Classic in 2016.

Join Superior Livestock for their next offering, Superior’s Tallgrass Internet Video Auction, featuring yearlings from the Flint Hills and Osage, broadcast live Lyon County Fairgrounds in Emporia, Kansas on June 22nd. There are several upcoming consignment deadlines if you wish to market with Superior; June 16th is the deadline for Big Sky Roundup, June 19th is the deadline for both Tallgrass and Week in the Rockies. Superior Livestock’s newest online timed auction format, Country Page Countdown, will their next offering will be June 6th on superiorclicktobid.com.
