Joplin Regional Cattle Market Sees Falling Prices for Yearlings and Stockers in First Sale of December Joplin Regional Stockyards

***CLOSE*** Compared to last week, steer calves steady to 3.00
lower, heifer calves 4.00 to 8.00 lower, yearlings 2.00 to 5.00 lower.
Most yearlings in medium to medium plus flesh condition. Cattle
slaughter continues to run heavy, helping feedlots to stay current and
make room for new arrivals. Live Cattle and Feeder Cattle closed on the
negative side, adding pressure to the feeder cattle trade.


Joplin Regional Stockyards will have a Special Value Added sale, Thursday,
December 7th, 2017. Expecting 8000 head of wean-vac, value added calves.
Feeder cattle supply included 51 percent Steers, 0 percent Dairy
Steers, 39 percent Heifers, and 10 percent Bulls. Feeder cattle supply
over 600 lbs was 44 percent.
