Wed, 09 Jan 2019 10:43:14 CST
The Noble Research Institute will host a two-part specialty crop seminar series from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, and Thursday, Jan. 31, at Noble Research Institute Kruse Auditorium to help landowners learn how to systematically approach fruit and vegetable production in a typical backyard setting.
The Jan. 29 seminar will focus on overcoming the special challenges, such as limited space, in producing small fruit and tree fruits. Discussion topics will include site and size considerations, variety selection, planting tips, and irrigation systems.
The Jan. 31 seminar will provide attendees with a more complete understanding of the various practices used to grow vegetables in a backyard setting. Topics to be covered include growing options, site preparation, planting techniques and pest control.
The practices used for fruits and vegetables are similar in some ways. However, specific crops require unique management.
These seminars are offered at no charge, but preregistration is required for each. For more information and to register, please visit www.noble.org/events or call 580-223-5810.
