Mon, 14 Jan 2019 06:07:17 CST
Representing 50,000 Oklahoma farming and ranching families, the Oklahoma Beef Council is kicking off 2019 in a unique partnership with Oklahoma City professional basketball player Steven Adams. Through this new relationship, Adams, known for his aggressive play on the court and humor off, champions Oklahoma's farmers and ranchers by harnessing his love of beef, the role beef plays in fueling a pro basketball player's active lifestyle, and honoring his roots in agriculture.
"I have fond memories of spending time with my brother working with him on his dairy farm," Adams says. "Because of this, I have a major respect for farming and ranching families whether they are here in Oklahoma or my home country of New Zealand. Through this partnership I have the opportunity to help share their story while also featuring the nutritional role beef plays in my diet."
Featuring Adams spending the day on the ranch, the digital marketing campaign highlights his love for beef. In his words, "I eat beef all the time. I smash steaks."
As the announcement was made by the Beef Council- Radio Oklahoma Ag Network Farm Director Ron Hays talked with Heather Buckmaster about the process of bringing this campaign from an idea to reality. The video recording was done on Express Ranches in September- then the lengthy process of working on the video post production began- along with the approval process by USDA for the multi platform campaign. The videos will premiere on the Facebook page of the Oklahoma Beef Council at 10 AM Saturday, January 12th.
As part of the partnership, the Oklahoma Beef Council launched "Steven's Steak of the Month Club". As the sole club member, he receives his favorite beef steaks - compliments of the Oklahoma Beef Council - every month he represents Oklahoma on the court.
"We are thrilled with this partnership. Oklahoma pro basketball fans know Steven not only has an affinity for the agriculture community, but he also wanted to be a farmer growing up," says Heather Buckmaster, executive director of the Oklahoma Beef Council. "Additionally, beef is one of his favorite foods, which will allow this partnership to share how beef fires his play and inspires strength through the essential nutrients it provides such as protein, zinc, iron and B-complex vitamins."
