OYE Entries Top 21,000 for 2019- Up Over Eight Percent Versus 2018

The number of entries for animals that can be brought to Oklahoma City and shown at the 2019 Oklahoma Youth Expo has increased over 2018 entry numbers by more than 8.6% with 21,159 animals in the four species entered versus 19,477 a year ago.

The numbers for both the market animals and the breeding animals have increased for hogs, cattle, sheep and goats- the eight divisions have all shown increases over 2018, a record setting year in itself.

OYE Show Manager Kass Newell calls the increases "pretty incredible" and she expects something over 13,000 head of livestock will actually show up, starting March 12th. Newell points to both the of the hog divisions for driving most of the growth- "our barrows and our gilts are both up over 500 each" which sets the stage for lots of work for Market Barrow Judges Nick Mauck and Neil Mauck, both from Indiana- Purebred Breeding Gilt Judges Al Schminke of Iowa and David Ammann of Illinois and Commercial Breeding Gilt Judges Justin Rodibaugh and Curt Hannon- both from Indiana.

Newell encourages everyone involved with the show- 4-H and FFA exhibitors, parents, FFA Ag Teachers, 4-H leaders and other supporters to download the brand new app that is now available for the 2019 show- a lot of information will flow through the APP- and you can get the links for both Apple and for Android to download the APP by clicking here which will take you to the front page of the OYE website.

Radio Oklahoma Ag Network Farm Director Ron Hays talked with Kass Newell about the entries and last minute information about OYE- click on the LISTEN BAR below to check it out.
