Paul Schlegel Promoted to Vice President of Public Affairs by American Farm Bureau Federation

The American Farm Bureau Federation has promoted Paul Schlegel to vice president, public affairs. Schlegel has been handling interim duties in this role since October, overseeing the Public Policy, Economics, Communications and Advocacy & Political Affairs teams.
"Paul brings great depth in public policy expertise to the table," said AFBF Executive Vice President Dale Moore. "I am confident that his steady leadership of our staff experts, coupled with the efforts of grassroots Farm Bureau members across the nation, will result in continued advancement of our issue priorities."
Schlegel joined AFBF in January 2005 as director, public policy handling a variety of issues. Most recently, he served as managing director, public policy. Prior to joining AFBF, he served for more than 20 years in senior staff positions in the House of Representatives for several members of Congress and as staff director of a committee. Between stints on Capitol Hill, Schlegel represented Weyerhaeuser Company as a senior federal affairs manager. He earned a bachelor's degree in English at Georgetown University.
Schlegel's wife, Nancy, is vice president for international government affairs at Lockheed Martin Corp.; they have two sons, Alexander and Iain, and reside in Alexandria, Virginia.
