End of May Superior Livestock Auction Saw Mostly Steady Prices with Decent Demand

Sun, 02 Jun 2019 13:32:41

End of May Superior Livestock Auction Saw Mostly Steady Prices with Decent Demand Superior Livestock Auction hosted their May 30th Video Auction live from their studio in the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards. Cattle producers offered 17,165 head of calves, yearlings and breeding stock from 17 states for this auction. Cattle were sold on contract to deliver immediately through the end of August 2019. Superior Livestock went live at 7:30am CT with Superior Sunrise and the auction followed at 8am CT. This May 30th Video Auction was broadcast on the SLA-TV and streamed on Superior Livestock Auction's Click To Bid website. As producers around the country are facing adverse growing and raising conditions, the market has been responding; however as seen over before premiums were protected on Superior Program cattle and still proved to be in demand.

Compared to Superior's last offering, regions 3/4/5/6 yearling steers and heifers were met with a steady market on lighter weights under 800 lbs and over 800 lbs saw a slight decrease of $2 to $5. Region 1 & 2 yearling steers and heifers were in light supply and saw the same demand on lighter weights especially those in grazing conditions. Program yearlings found good support selling $10-$15 above their non program contemporaries. Region 1 & 2 weaned calves were met with a fully steady market. Region 3/4/5/6 weaned calves found demand especially those in grazing flesh. Fair test on calves on cows and met with decent demand.

Join Superior Livestock for their next offering in Council Bluffs, IA for the Corn Belt Classic June 12th-13th. Superior Livestock's next Weekly Offering will be June 6th with a consignment deadline of June 4th.
