Author Discusses New Book That Examines What The Bible Has to Say About Eating and Using Animals

A new book, "What Would Jesus Really Eat? The Biblical Case for Eating Meat," looks at what the Bible has to say about using and eating animals from several different perspectives. The book, co-authored by Palm Beach Atlantic University professor and pastor, Wes Jamison, PhD, tackles topics including the challenges to Christian meat-eating, human exceptionalism and humanity's dominion over other living creatures. The book, sponsored by the Animal Agriculture Alliance, comes at a time when animal activist groups have started to appeal to Christians with misleading messages about what the Bible says in regard to the consumption of meat and animals. In an interview with Radio Oklahoma Ag Network Farm Director Ron Hays, Jamison says the book was written to provide Christians a Biblical case for eating meat.

"This is not a new debate. For 2,000 years, Christianity has been dealing with different interpretations that basically say you must do these things in order to be holy and sanctified," Jamison said. "The teachings of the New Testament in particular are very, very clear that there are no prohibitions about what you need to eat."

According to Jamison, animal rights activists have been making false claims about what the Bible says about the sanctity of eating animals. Jamison argues that activists have recognized the threat Christian beliefs about Man's dominion over the Earth and the animals pose to their agenda and have attempted to remove the historical and Biblical meanings of the Bible's passages and insert their own politically motivated subversions to try to convince church attendees that eating meat is inherently wrong.

"This book was written to refute those false arguments and provide Christians with a ready resource to defend themselves," Jamison remarked. "This book reminds us that we have the blessing to eat meat with joy and thankfulness."

In addition to chapters from Drs. Jamison and his co-author, Paul Copan, PhD, the book includes chapters from five different authors with unique perspectives and expertise in theology. Copies of the book can be purchased from the Alliance for $15.00 plus shipping and handling. Bulk order discounts are available for quantities from 25-99 ($13.00 per copy plus shipping and handling) and 100+ ($10 per copy plus shipping and handling). Click here to order your copy today.
