State Vet Dr. Rod Hall Honored by the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Assoc. with Distinguished Service Award

Wed, 24 Jul 2019 10:26:01 CDT

State Vet Dr. Rod Hall Honored by the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Assoc. with Distinguished Service Award The Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association (OCA) honored Dr. Rod Hall with the Distinguished Service Award. The award was presented during the recent OCA Convention and Trade Show. The Distinguished Service award was developed to recognize individuals who give of their time and resources to support the OCA.

Dr. Rod Hall has served as the State Veterinarian with the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry (ODAFF) since 2011. His first role at ODAFF was as a staff veterinarian beginning in 2006 as director of cattle programs. Dr. Hall grew up in Stonewall on a small dairy farm. After he graduated from the Oklahoma State University Veterinary School, he worked as an Associate Veterinarian at a private clinic in Alva. He returned to southern Oklahoma a few years later, where he owned and operated the Tishomingo Animal Clinic for 28 years before joining ODAFF.

"Dr. Hall's experience as a private practicing veterinarian is invaluable in his role as State Veterinarian," commented OCA Executive Vice President Michael Kelsey. "Dr. Hall knows the daily life of a cattle rancher and understands the importance of working with cattle producers to protect their herd and all animals in Oklahoma."

As State Veterinarian, Dr. Hall is responsible for disease traces and monitoring the flow of animals in and out of Oklahoma.

"Dr. Hall recognizes that his office should be proactive and practical working with cattle producers. Often disease issues are difficult and tedious. Dr. Hall seeks collaboration while working toward common sense solutions that protect our animals while keeping us in the business of raising safe and healthy cattle," Kelsey said.

On behalf of the members of OCA, according to Kelsey, "We are proud and honored to recognize Dr. Rod Hall with this Distinguished Service Award for his great and wonderful contributions to the Oklahoma beef cattle industry."
