Steer Calves and Yearling Steers Lower at Joplin Regional on Monday

Compared to last week, steer calves 5.00 to 10.00 lower, yearling steers 4.00 to 7.00 lower, except a load of 764 lb steers and 924 lb steer mates sold higher than last week, heifers 3.00 to 6.00 lower. Demand moderate to light, supply light. Live Cattle and Feeder Cattle futures opened and closed down the limit. USDA released the Crop Production report and grain futures traded sharply lower. A Heat Advisory for the trade area has curtailed receipts and demand. Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (48% Steers, 44% Heifers, 8% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 53%.
