Increasing aridity across the western part of the SCIPP region is contributing to more frequent and more intense droughts. Please join Dr. Richard Seager, a leading scholar on the causes of drought and the shifting zone of aridity, in a webinar on Wednesday, October 9 at 10am Central. Dr. Seager will be speaking on "Whither the 100th Meridian? The Once and Future Physical and Human Geography of America's Arid-Humidity Divide". Dr. Seager has previously examined patterns of decadal-scale drought in the Southern Plains along with historical drought and climate of the southwestern U.S. The webinar is hosted by the South Central Climate Adaptation Science Center in partnership with SCIPP and the USDA Southern Plains Climate Hub.
Dr. Seager is a leading researcher on the causes of decadal-scale drought and paleoclimatology of the Southwestern U.S., the impacts of climate change on water balance, and implications for ecology and society.
