The Cattlemen's Beef Board oversees the collection and investment of the dollar per head assessment on all cattle sold in the US. These assessments, about $77 million annually, fund the Cattlemen's Beef Promotion and Research Board, which runs the industry's research and promotion activities under AMS oversight. From 2014 through 2018, the Beef R&P Program has enhanced the demand for beef at an estimated rate of return of $11.91 for every dollar invested in the program, according to the latest economic evaluation.
The program was created and is administered under the authority of the Beef Promotion and Research Act of 1985.
