The Road to Rural Prosperity--Ron Hays Talks with Ag Educator Travis Bradshaw
Thu, 27 Feb 2020 12:38:07 CST
In our newest episode, Host Ron Hays sits down with Ag Educator Travis Bradshaw- talking about his career path that has recently taken him to Elgin just north of Lawton after many years in north central Oklahoma in the small community of Burlington. Bradshaw explains what led him into the teaching profession- how Ag Education has changed and how the students he has taught have inspired him over and over.
The Sirloin Club of Oklahoma awarded five deserving, young agriculturalists with the Today's Agriculturalists Under 40 award for those who excel as ag educators, crop farmers, livestock producers, as an ag professional or as an agricultural business owner, and Travis Bradshaw was one of the recipients.
Bradshaw says this award isn't just for him, but for all the Ag teachers in Oklahoma, "Year-round our Ag teachers are committed to the Livestock Industry. So they are helping students day in and day out. Whether its selecting livestock, whether its feeding, whether its transporting those animals to stockshows, working with them day to day on showmanship skills. Its helping that student to develop those skills of responsibility, of nutrition, of herdsmanship, all those things. Its a critical part of our job, and its not easy, so I really do accept this award on behalf of my fellow Ag Teachers."
