Coronavirus Fears Send Cattle Prices Lower at Joplin Regional Stockyards on Monday

Compared to last week, steers and heifers under 600 lbs 2.00 to 6.00 lower, over 600 lbs 5.00 to 7.00 lower, 900 weight steers 7.00 to 10.00 lower. Demand moderate, supply heavy. The uncertainty and unknown with the Coronavirus has shaken commodity and financial markets. Feeder Cattle futures closed limited down. The USDA Cattle On Feed report was neutral with 102% On Feed, 99% Placements, and 101% Marketed. Supply included: 100% Feeder Cattle (60% Steers, 0% Dairy Steers, 38% Heifers, 2% Bulls). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 53%.
