Steps for Farmers to Prepare for Coronavirus Food Assistance Program Funding

Steps for Farmers to Prepare for Coronavirus Food Assistance Program Funding If you are looking for ways to prepare your application for Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP) funding, the following steps could prove helpful.

1. Visit farmers.gov/CFAP for more information

2. Start gathering your farm's recent sales and inventory
*You are not required to provide an acreage report or a USDA farm number immediately

3. All livestock, crop, dairy, and specialty crop farmers are eligible for CFAP funding.

4. If you previously received SBA PPP or EIDL funding, you are still eligible for FSA farm programs and/or farm loans. They will not be held against you.

5. Once the application period begins, call your local FSA Office to schedule an appointment. ALL FSA BUSINESS WILL BE CONDUCTED VIA PHONE AND EMAIL.

6. FSA staff will request the following information
*Contact info
*Personal information, including your Tax Identification Number
*Adjusted Gross Income to ensure eligibility
*Direct deposit information

7. For privacy and security reasons, DO NOT send any personal information to USDA or your local FSA office without first initiating contact with them via a phone call.

8. If you are an existing customer, the below information will likely be on file at your local Service Center. If not, the following forms will need to be completed:

*CCC-901 Identifies members of a farm or ranch that is a legal entity. Member Information will be completed by legal entities and joint operations to collect the member names, addresses, and Tax Identification Numbers as well as citizenship status
*CCC-941 Reports your average adjusted gross income for programs where income restrictions apply.
*CCC-942 If applicable, this certification reports income from farming, ranching, and forestry, for those exceeding the adjusted gross income limitation.
*AD-1026 Ensures compliance with highly erodible land conservation and wetland conservation.
*AD-2047 Provides basic customer contact information.
*SF-3881 Collects your banking information to allow USDA to make payments to you via direct deposit.

USDA Secretary Sonny Perdue announced the Coronavirus Food Assistance program on April 17, 2020. CFAP will use funding and authorities provided in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, and other USDA existing authorities.
