Looking at The latest Fire Situation report in Oklahoma for July 1 Shows burn bans for Cimarron, Texas, and Major Counties.
Statewide Discussion: Minimal wildfire activity across Oklahoma yesterday; however fuels were subjected to intense drying conditions. With dew point values greater than 65? across most of Oklahoma today, heat index is the concern in central and
eastern Oklahoma. Fire danger, while less intense than yesterday, remains in place across the Panhandle, northwest and western Oklahoma.
Today: Winds will be much lighter today serving to limit spread potential in the west where dry fuels remain a concern. Very low chances of an isolated storm are in the forecast, but no wetting expected.
· Western Oklahoma Afternoon relative humidity values will fall below 25% generally along and west of a line from Woods County to Jackson County as temperatures warm into the 96?-105? range. Fine-dead fuel moisture will again
tap 3% in this area, and given the intensified drying conditions of the previous two days live-herbaceous fuels will exhibit elevated availability as well. Winds will be northerly in the Panhandle counties this morning and winds in
northwest Oklahoma will gradual shift from southerly to north by afternoon at 7-12 mph holding rates of fire spread to <90 ft./min. Wind direction in Southwest Oklahoma is expected to remain southerly, but again much lighter wind speeds will suppress potential for rapid rates of fire spread.
Short-term Outlook: Predominantly dry conditions remain in the forecast with opportunity for some isolated storms or scattered showers later in the week. No critical fire weather is expected at this time into the holiday weekend.
