Governor Stitt Announces Selection of New Secretary of the Land Office

Tue, 14 Jul 2020 12:47:44 CDT

Governor Stitt Announces Selection of New Secretary of the Land Office Governor Kevin Stitt announced today that the Commissioners of the Land Office (CLO) have named Elliot Chambers Secretary of the Land Office. As Secretary, Chambers is responsible for managing the state school land trust assets established at statehood.

"I am excited to announce the Commission's selection of Elliot Chambers as the Secretary of the Land Office," said Gov. Stitt. "Elliot is a qualified leader with a proven track record in corporate finance and management and a strong understanding of the energy sector. His experience will be of great benefit to the CLO as we continue to move our state forward."

"I am honored to have the opportunity to lead the CLO under Governor Stitt's vision to become a Top Ten state," said Chambers. "I look forward to serving the people of Oklahoma and managing the critical assets of the state for the benefit of our public-school system."

Chambers currently serves as the founder and CEO of The Aurelian Companies.

He served as Chief Executive Officer of White Star Petroleum, LLC from February 2016 to November 2019, and before that served as Chief Financial Officer of American Energy Woodford, LLC, American Energy Nonop, LLC and American Energy Minerals, LLC.

Prior to that, Chambers worked for Chesapeake Energy Corporation for seven years in increasing roles of importance, most notably as Vice President and Treasurer. Chambers has also worked in New York for Colgate-Palmolive Corporation, Prudential Financial, Verizon Communications and Ernst & Young in various finance, treasury and accounting roles. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Oklahoma State University in 1995, a Master of Business Administration from New York University in 2006 and is a certified public accountant.

"Elliot brings experience in managing large organizations and passion for serving our state to his new position. I am looking forward to the opportunity to partner with him to build a deeper relationship between OKDHS and CLO. We have a great opportunity to serve Oklahomans with a greater level of collaboration." - Justin Brown, Oklahoma Secretary of Human Services and Early Childhood Initiatives and Director of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services
"Having worked with Elliot on many occasions in the energy business over the past decade, his knowledge, diligence and professionalism, especially in the finance and energy related fields, was outstanding. He will be a great asset to the CLO team and the State of Oklahoma." - Jerry Winchester, Executive Director of the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department

"I am very pleased with Governor Stitt's selection of Elliot Chambers as Secretary of the CLO. Elliot is a highly competent and well-respected energy industry executive who is passionate about Oklahoma and will serve our great state with tremendous integrity and humility." - Jennifer Grigsby, former Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Ascent Resources

The Commissioners of the Land Office owns and manages over 750,000 acres of land in Oklahoma, making the agency the second largest owner of real estate in the state. More than 1,100,000 acres of minerals provide great opportunity for the trust to grow, with the continuing growth in energy in Oklahoma. The Land Office has permanent trust investments valued at over $2.4 billion. Before Oklahoma became a state, Congress set aside land in Oklahoma for the sole purpose of generating revenue to support public education. Oklahoma's constitution establishes the Oklahoma Commissioners of the Land Office as the keeper of the "sacred trust."
