Grand Champion Market Steer Sells for $70,000 at OYE Sale of Champions


The Grand Champions led off the annual Sale of Champions at the 2021 Oklahoma Youth Expo on Friday- and strong support made the Premium Sale a $1.25 Million affair after a one year interruption because of COVID.


Reign Scasta of Madill 4-H won the 2021 OYE Grand Champion Market Steer honors with his 2021 Champion Chianina Thursday night- earning the right to be the first of 214 market animals to sell on Friday afternoon in the 2021 Sale of Champions. His steer brought $70,000 and was purchased by a consortium led by Express Ranches and included Livestock Nutrition Center, Bank of Wesstern Oklahoma, McAfee and Taft, Greater OKC Chamber and BancFirst.


The Reserve Grand Champion Market Steer in the 2021 OYE was the Crossbred Champion- shown by Carlee Clark of the Muldrow 4-H. Carlee's Steer sold for $30,000 to a group that included Oklahoma AgCredit, Alan Niemann, Rockgate Financials and First Liberty.


Over two thousand barrows were sorted over the three day 2021 OYE Market Barrow Show- the best of the best was named Thursday evening as Steven Sanders of Guthrie FFA won Grand Champion Honors for his Crossbred Champion. His barrow was sold for $25,000 and purchased by Westgate Market Place.


Reserve Grand Champion Barrow was the Champion Hampshire- shown by Hagen Cundiff of the Perkins Tryon FFA. His Reserve Grand Champion Market Barrow was purchased by Blue and Gold Sausage, Hudiberg Auto Group, the Oklahoma Pork Council and AFR/OFU with a bid of $15,000.


The town of Canute owned the 2021 Oklahoma Youth Expo Grand Champion Market Lamb drive- Colt Randle of Canute FFA took Grand Champion Market Lamb honors with his Champion Hampshire. The Grand Champion Market Lamb sold for $15,000 to a group that included State Fair of Oklahoma, Central State Trailers and AFR.


Meanwhile, Sayde Allen of Canute 4-H had the Reserve Grand Champion Lamb with her Crossbred Champion. Sayde's Market Lamb sold for $10,000 to Boot Barn, Bank of Western Oklahoma, Lopez Foods and AFR/OFU.


The Grand Champion Market Goat was a repeat affair for young Addyson Schneberger of Carnegie FFA- she won the last time we had a market show at the OYE- the 2019 event. Here Grand Champion Market Goat sold for $15,000 to McDonalds, Diamonds Hats and the Farm Credit Associations of Oklahoma.


Reserve Grand Champion Market Goat was show by Cara Cummins of the Hollis FFA. The Reserve Grand Champion Goat sold for $11,000 to a group that includes the OKC Fairgrounds, Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma, Western Equipment and Pfeiffer Farms.
