Ag Groups Encourage Sound Freight Transportation Policies in Next Surface Transportation Bill Last week, ASA and other leading agricultural organizations urged Congress to enact policies in the next surface transportation bill that will adopt a more environmentally responsible, productive, and economically viable freight transportation system to keep America's agricultural and manufacturing industries competitive in the global market.

Along with keeping rural America at the forefront of any infrastructure package, the organizations stated numerous elements crucial to the next surface transportation legislation. The organizations used a problem/solution model to explain the current issues arising in U.S. freight infrastructure and what needs to be improved to protect the U.S. agricultural value chain's economic competitiveness.
