Statement of NCFC President and CEO Chuck Conner on Introduction of the Growing Climate Solutions Act

The Growing Climate Solutions Act is a critical step to breaking down barriers and providing certainty to farmer co-op members and other producers who want to participate in carbon markets. I would like to thank Senate Agriculture Committee Chairwoman Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.) and Sen. Mike Braun (R-Ind.) for their leadership in reintroducing the bill today with broad bipartisan support. If farmers are to be part of solving climate challenges they need to rely on proven science, accurate data and standardization to help us get there-this bill is an important step in that direction.
"I would especially like to recognize the work done by Agriculture Committee Ranking Member John Boozman (R-Ark.) who in collaboration with Sens. Stabenow and Braun added provisions to the bill providing greater farmer representation on the U.S. Department of Agriculture advisory panel on carbon markets that the legislation would establish.
"We look forward to the Senate Agriculture Committee taking up the bill soon and urge that it be considered, and approved, by the full Senate without delay."
