Oklahoma Conservation Commission Offers Fun Activies and Training Events This Summer--Register Now! Looking for some conservation events/training activities this month? Following are a few great opportunities with the Oklahoma Conservation Commission!

EVENT TITLE: Riverology 101: A Stream Ecology Workshop for Teachers
Dates: July 13-15
Time: 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Location: GRDA Ecosystems and Education Center, 420 OK Highway 28, Langley, OK 74350
Relevant Details: Teachers will learn the basics of stream ecology and detailed information about the Grand Lake and Illinois River watersheds.

Directions to Site 1: From Elk City High School, go 1 mile north on N Pioneer Rd, then turn left onto E 1090 Rd. The field is on the north side of the road. People can park at the oil field location and along the road.
Directions to Site 2: From Elk City High School, go 1 mile north on N Pioneer Rd, then take a right onto 1090 Rd, go approx. 1/2 mile. Entrance is on the left (north side of road) across from house at 19944 E 1090 Rd.
Relevant Details: A demonstration of soil health practices executed through State Cost-Share Funding

EVENT TITLE: Monarch Conservation Webinar Aligning Mosquito Control with Pollinator Protection
Date: July 27, 2021
Time: 1 p.m.
Relevant details: This is a collaborative effort between the Monarch Joint Venture and the National Conservation Training Center. Mosquitoes are a public health nuisance not only can their obnoxious bites ruin your picnic, but the diseases they carry sicken millions of people across the globe every year. The Metropolitan Mosquito Control District is the agency tasked with monitoring and controlling mosquitoes, ticks, and black flies in the Twin Cities. In this presentation learn how MMCD makes control decisions for pollinator protection using Integrated Pest Management. This will cover the control materials we use, the training staff undertakes, and the various studies about non-target species that have been done in conjunction with the University of Minnesota and other state agencies. Presenter: Alex Carlson Metropolitan Mosquito Control District.

Location with address: Menoken Farm. 1107 171st St. N.E., Menoken, N.D. From I-94, take Menoken Exit 170 and drive 1 mile south to Highway 10. Then, drive east for 1 mile to St. Hildegard's Church, where you turn south and drive for half a mile.
