Land A-Soy--ASA directors Get an Up Close Look at Ports & Waterways
Fri, 30 Jul 2021 09:54:50 CDT
During ASA's infrastructure and agriculture education tour of the PNW last week, ASA directors, state leaders and staff cruised the Portland Spirit for an up-close look at the some of the ports and inland waterways that are vital to exporting U.S. soy to customers around the globe.
The educational tour, sponsored by the United Soybean Board, was part of the annual ASA Board of Directors meeting, which was held in Vancouver, Washington this year. Along with providing the first face-to-face occasion for the board and states to gather in over a year, the meeting also provided the opportunity to meet new ASA's Government Affairs staff who were hired since the pandemic. The meeting offered in-depth discussions on clean energy and infrastructure, in addition to updates from ASA committees. ASA is grateful for the support of our meeting sponsors Bayer, REG, Syngenta and Bunge, and thanks the Pacific Northwest Waterways Association, BNSF Railway, Columbia River Pilots, Shaver Transportation, Tidewater Transportation and Terminals, United Grain Corporation, the Oregon Department of Agriculture and Washington State Department of Agriculture for their help with the tours.
