Individuals and Great Plains Kubota Recognized for Achievements at 2021 OCA Convention

Membership growth is vital for organizations such as the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association (OCA). Last week during the 69th Annual OCA Convention, several OCA members were recognized and appropriately awarded for their efforts and dedication to grow OCA membership.
""It is no small feat for us to grow this organization and we want to recognize those who help us achieve growth. Just as ranchers brag on and occasionally reward their 'Top Hands' on the ranch, OCA recognizes members who go above and beyond to recruit new members," said Darrel Shepherd, OCA Membership Committee Chair.
The highest level of recruitment recognition a member can receive is receiving an engraved rifle. To receive a rifle, a member must recruit 40 new OCA members. Congratulations to Nathan Anderson of Stillwater on receiving his first OCA rifle. Nathan was also awarded $5,000 in Great Plains Kubota store credit for being the member who recruited the most new OCA members during the 2020-21 membership year.
The next level of Top Hand Club recognition is for 20 new members. Shari Holloway of Chattanooga received a Mooremaker knife for her recruiting efforts. Those who have recruited 10 new members receive a belt buckle. Those recognized for recruiting 10 members were: Jordan Cook, Cordell; Michael Hodges, Quapaw; and Russell Boles, Watson.
"The OCA is a member run and driven organization. Without membership growth, young member recruitment and current members who are devoted to spurring us on, the OCA would perish," Shepherd said.
Industry partners like Great Plains Kubota are also vital when it comes to growing the OCA. Great Plains Kubota provided incentives in the form of store dollars toward the purchase, or lease, of Kubota equipment. The incentives and winners are listed below.
· Jim Davis, Burns Flatt, was the winner of a $5,000 drawing to a member of the Top Hand Club
· William and Carrol Woods, Chickasha, was the winner of a $2,500 drawing to a new member
· Chris Gossen, Cordell, was the winner of a $2,500 drawing to a member who recruits at least one new member
"I sincerely want to thank Great Plains Kubota. The owner, Bill Clark, is a cattleman and OCA member himself. The support, encouragement and creativity he provides to help the OCA grow is fantastic and deeply appreciated," Shepherd said.
The 69th Annual OCA Convention and Trade Show was held July 23 and 24 at the Embassy Suites in Norman, Okla. The event is held in conjunction with the Oklahoma CattleWomen, Inc., and the Oklahoma Junior Cattlemen's Association's Annual Meetings. The OCA Convention and Trade Show is the largest annual gathering of beef producers in Oklahoma. Cattlemen and women come together to create policy, listen to informative speakers, celebrate industry accomplishments, and recognize individuals and groups, like Merch Animal Health, who contribute to the success of the OCA.
