Small Businesses Utilize More Than 145 Billion In Government Contract Dollars Despite 2020 Pandemic

In a press release, the announced that eight federal agencies received "A+" ratings, exceeding the federal governments small business contracting goal for fiscal year 2020.
The SBA is an independent agency of the federal government to aid, counsel, assist and protect the interests of small business concerns, with the goal of helping Americans start, build and grow businesses, according to the SBA website.
Since 2007, the SBA has measured how well federal agencies achieve their small business and socio-economic prime contracting and subcontracting goals.
According to the SBA website, the annual Scorecard is an assessment tool that does three things:
· Measure how well federal agencies reach their small business and socio-economic prime contracting and subcontracting goals.
· Provide accurate and transparent contracting data.
· Report agency-specific progress.
The website also says the prime and subcontracting component goals include goals for small businesses, small businesses owned by women, small, disadvantaged businesses, service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses and small businesses located in Historically Underutilized Business Zones.
Along with the eight agencies that received "A+" grades, 11 received a grade of "A" and three received a "B" grade.
