Butter is High on Grocery Lists. If You Aren't Convinced Check Out the Hit Song, "Butter"

Mon, 09 Aug 2021 10:03:38 CDT

Butter is High on Grocery Lists. If You Aren't Convinced Check Out the Hit Song, Butter, along with the entire dairy industry, have seen a rise in consumer appreciation, just like BTS’ hit “Butter” is a hit on the billboard charts, according to a press release by the National Milk Producers Federation.

According to the relsease, the dairy industry approves.

"It always helps an industry when its products capture an upbeat cultural moment," the relsease stated.

According to data presented by the Economic Research Service at the USDA, butter sales have nearly doubled since 2001, from nearly 1.3 million pounds of butter sold per year to nearly 2.1 million pounds sold in 2020.

The press release states, “And butter, of course, is a part of the overall dairy story. Dairy grocery-store sales rose 14 percent in 2020 from 2019, to $67 billion. And while the 2020 numbers for overall dairy per-capita consumption aren’t out yet, the trend line is clear: Dairy is winning with consumers - and not just on the radio.”
