Save The Date! Watonga Cheese Festival Coming up October 8-9th Feta up with the same old thing? Save the date for the Watonga Cheese Festival on October 8-9 where you're sure to have a gouda time with wine and cheese tastings, an art show, children's events and a brie-lliant parade!

The 44th annual Watonga Cheese Festival will be held Friday, October 8th 11am-5pm and Saturday, October 9th from 9am-6pm in Watonga, Oklahoma.

The 2021 Festival is fast approaching for what would have been the 45th year to hold the event. Due to COVID concerns the 2020 event was cancelled but everyone has jumped on board to celebrate the return of this historic festival.

This year's theme is "LUCKY TO BE BACK" honoring our return to the festival and the grand opening of the Lucky Star Casino Hotel and Convention Center in Watonga. The festival will be centered on Main Street, old City Hall and the First Baptist Church.

The event will feature a ribbon cutting grand opening ceremony on Thursday, 10/7 6:00pm at Centennial Park where Mayor Bill Seitter will "cut the honorary horn of cheese", followed by a petting zoo for kids, bring your own t-shirt and decorate for the Cheesiest T (prize), the Cutest Dog Contest (prize), Touch the Truck, Poster Award Ceremony (awards) and Pictures with Cheezy!

Friday, Oct 8th and Sat, Oct 9th will see the historical Armory filled with 50+ Vendors, Main Street with Vendors, Oasis Church filled with Vendors & Indian Tacos, Food Trucks, Live Music, Wine/Beer tent, Bubble Stilt Man, Quilt Show, Cheese Tasting, Cheese Food Contest, A-Z Petting Zoo, Inflatables, Kids Carnival, Cheese Booths, TLC Dancers, Bounce House, Jelly Roll Contest, Central Plains Dancers Street Performers, Family Dance Party, Huge Parade, the Great Rat Race, Horse and Carriage Rides, and lots more!

One of Oklahoma's oldest races - The Great Rat Race 5k and 10K and one-mile fun run will begin on Saturday, 10/9 at 9:00am. Registration will be in front of the Noble House Hotel. The race will be timed and you can still sign up on https://endurancecui.active.com.

The Festival is free to attend and we'd love to see you in Watonga.
