Three Attendees took Home Grand prizes from the 2021 Angus Convention.

Three Attendees took Home Grand prizes from the 2021 Angus Convention. Angus breeders and beef industry enthusiasts came together in Cowtown for a weekend filled with passion, innovation and achievement. A highlight of the annual event, attendees packed the stands in the Priefert Cattle Demo Area in hopes they would take home one of three grand prize giveaways. Three lucky participants left the 2021 National Angus Convention and Trade Show with more luggage in tow.

The first name called was Charlie Boyd II of Mayslick, Kentucky, winning a Bale King 5300 Bale Processor from Bridgeview Manufacturing. A prize valued at $30,000, the processor will assist Boyd and his family in feeding and bedding their cattle with ease. Carrying up to three round bales per load, the Bale King 5300 saves time, fuel and miles for this fortunate winner.
“It was so exciting to have won the Bale King bale processor,” Boyd said. “I guess it was our lucky day, because we have been considering a bale processor at Boyd Beef Cattle. The Bale King will be instrumental in bull development and our spring calving cows and calves. I applaud Bridgeview Manufacturing for their generous support of the American Angus Association and Angus Convention.”

Martha Johnson and Knoll Crest Farm of Red House, Virginia drove home in a John Deere XUV835M gator, valued at $16,569. “Nothing runs like a Deere,” and Johnson can experience that in her new Gator, complete with a three-person cock pit, power steering, a 54-horsepower engine, 2,000-pound towing capacity, 1,000-pound cargo box capacity, and speeds up to 45 mph. Daily chores and other ranch work will soon be a breeze, thanks to this gracious donation from John Deere.

"I was excited to attend the convention on behalf of Knoll Crest Farm,” Johnson said. “I was shocked to win the John Deere Gator and can't wait to ride the pastures and check cows with my kids."

Claiming the third and final giveaway item was Leslie Worsham of Houston, Texas. Working cattle can now be stress-free for the Worshams as they install a Priefert and Datamars Complete Cattle Handling System, valued at $42,244. The extensive package features a solid sweep with a straight working alley, adjustable to one of four widths, leading to a Priefert Model S04 Squeeze Chute. The set-up is completed by a Tru-Test by Datamars complete weight and water management solution, electronic identification reader, and WaterWell 2 automatic waterer. Not only will Worsham be able to work cattle more safely, but more efficiently as well.

“We are closing on a property at the end of November and we were in need of a corral system,” Worsham said. “From its capacity to its state-of-the-art data system, we know it will enable us to better work our Angus cows and collect data on our Angus calves. It is such a blessing and we are so thankful to Priefert for their generosity!”

Giveaway sponsors Bridgeview Manufacturing, John Deere, Priefert and Datamars helped make legendary progress possible for these three Angus producers.

The 2021 National Angus Convention and Trade Show was held Nov. 6-8, 2021 in Fort Worth, Texas. For news and information about NACTS, visit www.angusconvention.com
