Tue, 18 Jan 2022 10:56:10 CST
The Common Swine Industry Audit (CSIA) task force has added two key updates for producers to incorporate into farm procedures this year. This task force reviews feedback from producers, packers, auditors, and customers each year to clarify and revise portions of the audit.
2022 updates include:
· Biosecurity: Recommend 5 nights downtime in the U.S. after international travel (no contact with swine or other livestock)
· Animal Handling: 2 actions added to Willful Acts of Abuse list
- Deliberate slamming of gates on animals
- Malicious driving of ambulatory animals on top of one another either manually or with direct contact with motorized equipment
