Market Recap from Superior Livestock's January 27th Video Auction
Superior Livestock Auction hosted their January 27th video auction live from the Superior Livestock Office & Studio located in Hudson Oaks, Texas. Cattle producers offered almost 23,650 head of calves, yearlings, and breeding stock from 23 states for this auction. Cattle were sold on contract to deliver immediately through June 2022. Superior Livestock went live with the auction at 8am CT. The January 27th Video Auction was broadcast on SLA-TV, Dish Network Ch. 997 and streamed on Superior Livestock Auction's Click to Bid website. Thursday's auction came after a roller coaster week for all markets including those related to agriculture, these markets provided lower futures and higher cutouts; despite the uncertainties across the board Superior Livestock delivered an auction that was fully steady.
Region 3/4/5/6 feeder steers met with a softer under tone on immediate deliveries selling $3 to $5 lower, however deferred deliveries fully steady. Region 3/4/5/6 feeder heifers also found resistance on immediate deliveries selling $4 to as much as $7 lower. Deferred deliveries again saw strong demand at fully steady prices. Region 1 & 2 feeder steers and heifers were in short supply with small test selling fully steady. Beef Dairy Crosses were fully steady compared to our last auction with very strong demand for the lighter weights. Region 1 & 2 weaned calves were in strong demand as buyers are thinking about grazing season, fully steady prices were paid on all classes in grazing condition. Region 3/4/5/6 weaned calves also found strong demand for all weights of grazing condition calves some much needed moisture across part of the wheat belt also leading to some of the strength in the grazing market.
