Deadlines Near for Enrollment in Farmer Safety Net Programs The deadlines for enrolling in USDA commodity and crop insurance programs are quickly approaching.


Farmers have until March 15 to enroll in the Farm Service Agency's Agriculture Risk Coverage or Price Loss Coverage programs for the 2022 crop year. These safety-net programs provide financial support to farmers who experience substantial declines in crop prices or revenues.


To qualify for the 2022 Pandemic Cover Crop Program, producers must file a Report of Acreage form (FSA-578) for cover crops with FSA by March 15, 2022. Producers who have coverage under most crop insurance policies are eligible for a premium benefit if they planted cover crops during this crop year.

Many crop insurance policies for corn growers also have a sales closing date of March 15. Contact your local crop insurance agent for more information.
