The Farm Journal Foundation has released its annual Impact Report.
We are pleased to share our 2021 Impact Report, which showcases Farm Journal Foundation's most important work of the past year. Thanks to all of our Farmer Ambassadors and partners who worked toward our shared mission of advancing global food security and agricultural innovation!
Our Global Food System Faces Enormous Challenges OVERVIEW Every year, farmers and our food system face greater and greater challenges. Extreme weather caused by climate change, volatile farm input prices, supply chain issues, and the COVID-19 pandemic all took an increasing toll in 2021. Furthermore, farmers are under constant pressure to produce more with limited resources, amid environmental constraints and rising global demand for food. These challenges are also affecting consumers. 2021 saw the highest global food prices in a decade and a steep rise in world hunger today, nearly 1 out of every 10 people on the planet is undernourished. For the sixth straight year, Farm Journal Foundation has maintained an Issues Wheel that reflects consumer priorities gleaned from feedback captured during our annual programming.
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and as extreme weather events due to climate change become more frequent, we have seen notable shifts in consumer priorities and concerns. In 2021, consumers continued to think about the environmental and climate impacts as they shopped for food, while issues such as supply chain resiliency and labor Our work focuses on four main became more prominent. issues:
